3 travel tips to help you keep flight costs down
Shop on a Monday or Tuesday
You may notice that airlines announce sales on Monday or Tuesday, but they're over by Thursday. No use shopping for great airfares on weekends. It seems, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are the cheapest days to fly. Experts say you should buy no earlier than three months in advance and no later than two weeks ahead of your trip.
Use your points
Need I say more? And if you don't have enough miles for a free ticket, so what? Look into your frequent flyer credit card program because many of them let you use the points you do have toward a discount on a regular fare.
Get a Discount
You can get a coupon by Google-ing "airline coupon code" or go to websites like Farecompare.com to find the latest deals. It's also a good idea to follow your favorite airlines on Twitter, that's where some publish their deals. I use Farecompare.com.
Now that we are all paying for baggage, extra leg room and even not-so-great snacks on some airlines we can pinch pennies and strike up a good deal if we look.
What's your best deal on airfare?
