Special Announcment Ellen Heinz turns 95

It isn't often one can say they have a photo of 5 generations of one family. But I can. My grandma Ellen turned 95 on November 21, 2009 and my parents put on a wonderful party for the occasion.

Here is the album from this event:

How lucky I am to have a grandmother, and grand kids. It just doesn't get any better!

Do you have 5 generations in your family to share?

Cruises and Celebrations - Hornblower Cruises

Dinner, Lunch, Brunch Cruises and Celebrations | San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County | Hornblower Cruises

Wouldn't it be fun to plan a dinner dance on a yacht in Sacramento? Thats what I am going to propose to my friends that I take dance lessons with each week. Looks like the price is right at 55-95 dollars for an evening under the stars on a cruise around the Sacramento River.

The Sacramento California Delta is an endless network of rivers, tributaries, and channels that offer an incredible boating experience. Originally used by miners and settlers during the 1848 Gold Rush, the Delta is still as beautiful and mysterious as ever. The waterways between San Francisco and Sacramento hold legends, fables and folklore that began with the birth of California. For complete history of the delta go to: http://www.sacdelta.com/hist.html

Bon Yoyage my friends!

And the office food. It's so nice to work where the holiday spirit is alive and we can celebrate the 24 days of Christmas.

I don't know about you, but I am getting exhausted trying to keep up with my social media. It is moving into my travel time so I am trying to evaluate why I'm doing it and if I can find any return on investment (ROI) that makes it worth doing.

I have recently learned a few facts I'd like to share with you as you too evaluate your reasons for participating in social media.

FACTS:
• By 2010, it is projected that over 50% will use smartphones to plan travel. Virginia currently has a free mobile visitors guide.

• 80% of Tweets are mobile

• There are 300 million Facebook users (and it has good security)
• The most effective way to use social media is to cross promote through all channels- Twitter, Flickr, You Tube, Facebook, etc., but to have those links all defined in one location. The speaker mentioned the value of the ripple effect- send out many small things but all with a connection to the destination (or attraction).
• You Tube is the Internet’s 2nd largest search engine behind Google.

• It’s good to use social media as a tease to drive to a Web site or other place for conversion
• It's always good to partner with others to form deals and values when it comes to promoting through Twitter and other social media.

Next I'm looking at ROI

Have you found any specific reasons social media has given you great value?

Charles Phoenix Holiday fun!

It's my daughter Kelsey's 21st birthday today (Happy birthday Kelsey) so I am reminising about the past and thinking I better get started on the Holidays. One of my favorite things to do is look through old photos and it reminded me of a famous or should I say infamous Charles Phoenix. http://www.charlesphoenix.com/

"The King of Retro" returns to spread holiday cheer with a slyly entertaining live comedy performance that celebrates mid-century holiday life and style. With his unstoppable enthusiasm and wry, eagle eye for the very best and most bizarre of his massive collection of found-Kodachrome slides, Phoenix supercharges the classic living room slide show into a hysterical/historical celebration of American holiday life and style. It’s a 1950s & 60s New Years, Easter, 4th of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas jubilee that’s sure to get you in the mood for the all the holidays like you never have before! IN COLOR!

So much fun, check it out!
UPCOMING DATES:
Pasadena, CA, 12/5 – 8pm
Pomona CA, 12/12 – 8pm
Hollywood, CA, 12/20 – 2pm
Seattle, WA, 12/27 – 8pm
Portland, OR, 12/29 – 7pm

Do you have some crazy and colorful holiday slides or pictures to share?
