An Apple a day!

Looking for a destination Inn in San Luis Obispo? Try the cute and quaint Apple Farm Inn and Restaurant. I enjoy shopping at the Apple Farm because they carry a large selection of local food items, apple butter, jelly and jams. On my last trip I was inspired to buy a wonderful bottle with creative decorative stopper that I plan to duplicate for some older bottles I have at home. I also found a classy sea-blue and apple-green pashmina scarf that I wore while on the trip because it was a little cooler than I thought it would be. One more thing, a local's secret, they have an outlet store on the same street a few blocks away towards downtown. www.applefarm.com

If your up for a nice walk head across the bridge to the campus of Cal Poly. A beautiful school and great agricultural land around it make for great form of travel exercise. www.calpoly.edu/

The downtown is wonderful any day of the week. The specialty shops, local BBQ restaurants like McClintocks and odd quick stops like a view of bubble gum alley are sure to put a smile on your face. But if you are only in San Luis Obispo 24 hours like I was I recommend that you visit on a Thursday night and take advantage of the world famous Farmers Market street faire. Everyone comes out for the fresh produce, lovely flowers, local crafts music and foods. www.downtownslo.com/farmers.html

Dessert at Madonna’s is another fun must-do while on the Central Coast. It is whole other experience to enjoy a treat at this fun destination. Be sure to take a look at the carnival type water goblets upstairs in the gift shop. Even if you can't stay for long, I would recommended just driving by this spectacular place! www.madonnainn.com/

3 travel tips to help you keep flight costs down

Shop on a Monday or Tuesday
You may notice that airlines announce sales on Monday or Tuesday, but they're over by Thursday. No use shopping for great airfares on weekends. It seems, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday are the cheapest days to fly. Experts say you should buy no earlier than three months in advance and no later than two weeks ahead of your trip.

Use your points
Need I say more? And if you don't have enough miles for a free ticket, so what? Look into your frequent flyer credit card program because many of them let you use the points you do have toward a discount on a regular fare.

Get a Discount
You can get a coupon by Google-ing "airline coupon code" or go to websites like Farecompare.com to find the latest deals. It's also a good idea to follow your favorite airlines on Twitter, that's where some publish their deals. I use Farecompare.com.

Now that we are all paying for baggage, extra leg room and even not-so-great snacks on some airlines we can pinch pennies and strike up a good deal if we look.

What's your best deal on airfare?

Take it up a notch

Confidence is the first thing a french woman puts on...

I am always on the look out for french fashions. You know the true Haute Couture some high end consignment stores carry. Four words sum it up pretty well when I think of the way French women dress: simplicity, sophistication, refinement and quality.

I love the Chic and season-less, neutrals of the French style. Again, reflecting the practicality of French femmes, the basics do not go in-and-out of French style. Colors, as trends, are typically reserved for accessories--a scarf, purse or even shoes. They keep their style very simple and the fabrics -- natural fibers and high end.

French women invest in the basics. Women should have a dozen solid, high-quality wardrobe pieces that are able to carry her from day to evening. French women's perfectly reliable style secret is to remain well dressed and appropriate. You'll never see a french woman in jeans and tennis shoes. Jeans are acceptable, but the French pair their casual denim with classic heels, loafers, ballet flats or boots.

What to Wear on the Plane...

We all do it, wait in those long security lines so we can be searched and run for our next flight. The checkpoints, the people - the walk from terminal to the plane to their destination — check-in, security, passport control, customs, immigration — it’s smart to dress comfortably and in a way that won’t cause a delay for you or your fellow plane passengers. Of course, if you’re on your honeymoon or a romantic getaway, you want to look stylish, too.

The following tips can help you decide how to dress and otherwise prepare for your next plane trip:

Dress in Layers: It can get steamy standing in a crowded check-in line and chilly in an air-conditioned plane. To prepare for both situations, dress in layers that can be peeled off or added as needed in the airport and on the plane.

A sweater, jacket with pockets, pashmina, or hoodie over a pretty cami, tank, or shell for her and a nice T-shirt and hoodie or jacket for him can be an ideal topper. Choose pants or jeans with a little extra “give,” woven with a small percentage (5% or less) of Spandex. They’re super-comfortable yet you'll arrive without your pants looking baggy in all the wrong places. You may also prefer pants with multiple pockets, since travelers can always use more places to stash stuff.

Avoid Heavy Metal Silver belt buckles, oversize earrings, loose change, watches, and heavy chain-link necklaces. To avoid embarrassment and holding up the line, place jewelry in your carry-on and put it back on when you reach your destination. And leave your keys at home if you don't have to have them on your trip. Recently engaged with a diamond ring? Buy a cubic-zirconia look-a-like and leave the real thing at home in a safe place.

Wear Slip-On Shoes Some airport security posts make you remove the shoes you wear and put them in a bin to be scanned; others allow you to walk through in your footwear. As a courtesy to fellow passengers, wear clean socks. And if you’re tempted to wear sandals or flip-flops, think twice: Toes can get inadvertently stomped on in a crowd.
